Algorithmic capture is mistaking the narrowing of the system’s You-model with a narrowing of your actual self. This isn’t the same as audience capture—in fact, it’s more potent and deplorable, as it does not require one even have an audience. “You” is bigger than a feed or a set of followers.

A system that predicts you correctly has not understood you. It has narrowed you until prediction became easy.
