As the intelligence era unfolds, we’ll do well to remember that information ain’t adherence in the same way that correlation ain’t causation. Individually, that probably means that the fictitious “average person” will update their behaviour at the same rate as they have throughout the entirety of human existence. Culturally, though, we might see the lowest standards of adherence rise faster than ever before. Might being the key word.
Worst case, the direct line to the machine god becomes a sycophantic amplifier, entrenching irrational behaviour and segregating everyone. Best case, a higher value placed on truth and wisdom (perhaps simply because their opposites become unfashionable) lets cultural evolution outcompete the provably irrational faster than ever.
